The Grey Goo Tournament Series was an official tournament series with a cash prize pool of US$75,000, that ran from September 2015 to January 2016.
The finals took place at PAX South in San Antonio, Texas, from January 29--31, 2016. All matches were played between the Beta, Human and Goo factions, as Shroud had not yet been added to the game.
On the last day of the tournament, the Descent of the Shroud DLC was announced, with the Shroud faction being added to the game shortly after.
